Heyyy guess who screwed up and gave me a lil corner of the internet to write about WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT?? As long as it’s about Heaven Seven or the local punk, alt, underground, DIY, freak-scene universe ofc.

So hey — I’m Aster. Child of a star deity, crash-landed in a field outside Mooresville, NC about two decades ago and now wander the DIY scene here in Charlotte. Also, if you’re coming from our Insta, we’ve def met before! I’m the one writing all the captions and stories that have a certain *jenny say quoi* to make ya giggle.

Soooo now I basically get to do the same thing here. Expect updates on new issues, cool shows, n events around the CLT area and maybe even some local music stuff like *cough* writeups or reviews… idk… we’ll see… think about it ;)

okok so we’re breaking our vow of silence to tell you about THE BIG POP SHOW. Four whole days of indie DIY shock and roll in Durham, NC with an insane lineup of bands too long to even list here but highlights include: Good Flying Birds, LIfeguard, Parking, Canaries, Memory Card, TV Buddha, and many more.

It's basically a congregation of freeks from all over the country touching down at Duke’s Coffeehouse and planting their flag from Friday March 20th to Sunday the 23rd. On Saturday the 21st WE’LL be there selling zines so pop out and dance with us. I know we say this a lot but YOU NEED TO BE THERE like for any of the days if not all bc this is one of the days in NC underground history.

Last years was insaneeee, we met so many cool bands and people. We had the gorls from Horsegirl smack one of our guys in the face for a video (and then they rocked the house). As always check our insta for the vid we made and more photos and I SWEAR AFTER THIS WE'LL GET BACK TO WORK ON ISSUE 4.

BADA-FUCKIN BAM its 2026 and damn do it feel like it. This year we’re feeding our delusions and WANT NOTHING BUT ENABLERS AROUND US!! Ok ok so goals: we’re looking to drop MORE than one issue :0 so yeah, no fluffin around. 4 and 5 in the two-oh-twentysix; get ready (no promises tho). Tell ya daddy.

We’re also cooking up some things for the scene. Stay tuned for that. It's gonna include some bands, some zines, and more of what we showed at Midnight Home Movies. Oh yea, that lil clip was just a little teaser for the full thing we’ve been working on. If you didn't catch it wellll it's nothing crazy… just some late night experiments, some grainy footage… who knows what that could turn into. We're probably gonna go a lil quiet while we continue work of issue 4 and everything else but we promise its for the greater good.

The future is bright and the past was beuteeful. Thanks to everyone who got a copy of issue 3, came out to a show, said wazzup and everyone who's worked with us this past year; y’all the real sevens in my Heaven.

So if you somehow don't already know; Mono Feo is once again hosting the fourth installment of Midnight Home Movies :0 and if you're really uncultured and don't know what those words meannnn: every year Mono hosts an annual micro film fest where all the freeks in this damn city submit their micro movies (like 1-2 mins long) to be shared to a mass audience of… Well some more freeks.

It's all about DIY videos and midnight culture and this year its going to be screened at THE Independent (yes the ‘I’ in DIY!!) sooo this’ll be your chance to see your freeky lil video on the big screen. Last year we had a showed our lil animated MASTERPIECE 'Playing Possum' to massive acclaim (everyone clapped) and who knows maybe you’ll see soemthing new from us this year too ;). Check Mono’s insta for more info on everything. We better see ya on the red carpet.

Ok ok so im not supposed to be sharing this with ya’ll here cuz ''editor in chief'' wants to keep it like a secret from those who DIDN’T go to zinefest and pick up a copy of our issue 4 sneek peek butttt so long as we keep it between the us, here, the blog readers, it should be alright.

Ok so back around august we took a few trips out to see Hotline TNT–America's favorite DIY band–Not once but TWICE and yes they fuckin rocked and the show was amazing (obvi) but I’ll leave the to stroking to bossman in an article he’s probably working on or has already finished. POINT IS a convo was had between us and Mr. Will ''No Pedals'' Anderson along with drummer Mike Ralston about all things DIY and will be in the next issue for all y’all to read!!

If you haven’t listened to Hotline then you're already late to the rager but better late than never so check em out, it'll raise your aura or whatever and then go see em in person (they live on tour) and tell em HEAVEN SEVEN sent you. Until then we'll be busy working up Issue 4. bye bye for nowwww.

Wow so it's our favorite time of the year… ZINEFEST!! But this year we’re proud to be an OFFICIAL VENDOR :00 This saturday from 11 to 5pm we’ll be slinging zines at the McColl Center. We’re gonna have issue 3 (ofc), leftover bootlegs of issue 0ne, stickers, AND a sneek peek of issue 4 so we better see your butts there cuz there will also be OTHER vendors selling cool shit too!!

Fun fact: We first debuted this zine by printing out copies of issue 1 and running around trading with vendors AT zinefest back in 2022 so full circle moment that we’ll be here with issue 0ne again but now with a table. Sooo we’ll see you there right?... RIGHT? Kk heres a cute lil poster we cooked up to celebrate. check ya later!

Just like the sun sets and a band finishes its set, Abdul’s reached its own end on July 4th of 2025. A day that will now live on as a national DIY holiday celebrated by future crafty scenesters. Fourth of Abdul’s. Blankets were spread out on the grass; beers, hotdogs, and bug spary got passed all around while the crowd waited for the show to start. The vibes were at an appalachian peak before the bands even played. Then, Candynavia sang her SOUL out while the sun set over that kudzu horizon hellscape. Tombstone Poetry played a stripped back set with just a guitar and violin with cicadas on backing vocals, fresh off releasing their newest single, ''Bear Down''. And FUCK, Motocrossed rocked! They said ''fuck it'' and ditched the acoustic setup and went full creek rock, blasting and squealing their guitars while fireworks went off. It was the perfect send off to the local powerhouse that was Abduls. RIP.

yea so it was amazing and if ya ain't go, then sorry to say you missed a REAL North Carolina moment. We ain't blowing smoke up ya butt either; there was a very elaborate firework show sync'd up to Motocrossed that would put those boobs at MSG to shame AND we got the photos to prove it all (sidenote: ever try to photograph fireworks? shits a pain).

LONG LIVE DIY.

In our issue 3 interview with Abdul we talked about how ''Abduls'' time as a venue has passed thanks to rapid gentrification in the area bringing in new apartments and new tenets. So readers who never attended an Abdul show could only imagine… until now. Yes yes you read that right. Abdul’s is having One. Last. Show before sailing off into the sun for good. On the fourth of July we will be celebrating DIY with musical guests Motocrossed, Tombstone Poetry (acoustic), and Candynavia at the one and only Abduls (ask a freek 4 addy).

There will be hot dawgs on the grill and fireworks to send us off for the night so come out, say howdy, have some fun, and experience some indiependence. Last chanceeee

Let me start this off by saying thank you to everyone who came out and bought a zine and to the community for having us out there. Long live D.I.Y booking!! The punks took over the Commonwealth and filled it with raucous noise. There were zines, a wrestling match, a whole ass pug, and of course some sick ass bands.

Ruminations were probably the loudest screamers the Plaza has ever seen with the guitars being heard all the way to Common Market. Repo Boys had great energy as did Fixations (great hops too) and newcomers Saca Moco showed upppp with a frontwoman that's small but powerful. If ya didn't pull up you missed out on a reeaaall scuzzfest but don’t worry we got some pics and videos on our insta. Below is a peek of our newborn out in the wild.

Our 3rd little bundle of joy has arrived and we are SO excited to show it off to EVERYONE. They came in at a whopping 40 pages!! and once again packed with tons of art and writings from your local weirdos. And of course we have interviews this time with underground Charlotte legend Abdul (iykyk) and his infamous D.I.Y venue ''Abdul's'', which is just his house but holds much local lore; you HAVE to read about. We also talked to Blaire of local countrygaze band Motocrossed as they wrap up recording and producing their debut to find out how someone can do all that outside of a studio space (yk diy indie style). We also got a section where we asked Abdul for tips on how to throw your own house show so maybe YOU could be your scenes next ''Abdul'' ;v

To celebrate we’re gonna be at the ''Punk on Commonwealth'' show May 24th at The Diamond selling issues for 7 bucks to anyone who wants em. Think of it as our baby shower but with a lot more moshing. Ruminations rips, Fixations will beat your ass, it’ll be a gay old time but if you can’t come out we’ll have the issue available for download on our gumroad!

Thats all for now, we’ll prob post some pix on here after the show but follow us on insta if you wanna see em allllll.
